Navigation & ECDIS Engineer

NORZVA is looking for Navigation & ECDIS Engineers at all levels — from fresh interns to experienced senior engineers — to join our growing maritime technology team. You will work on real navigation projects including Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems, route planning software and navigation integration for commercial and offshore vessels delivered to IMO standards.

OPEN LEVELS

Intern
Support ECDIS documentation, chart data processing and navigation system testing under senior engineer guidance. Ideal for final year students in maritime, electronics or software engineering.

Junior (0–2 Years)
Develop navigation software modules, contribute to ECDIS integration and support client deliverables on live maritime programmes.

Mid Level (2–5 Years)
Lead navigation system development independently, manage ECDIS interfaces and own technical deliverables on client projects.

Senior (5+ Years)
Lead full navigation system architecture and delivery, manage engineering teams and represent NORZVA as technical authority with clients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

– Design and develop ECDIS and navigation software systems for commercial vessels
– Integrate navigation systems with AIS, RADAR and other bridge equipment
– Develop route planning and voyage management software modules
– Ensure IEC 61162 and NMEA 2000 compliance in all navigation system designs
– Perform navigation system testing and validation on vessel simulators
– Produce technical documentation aligned to IMO navigation standards

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

– Degree in Maritime, Software, Electronics or related engineering field
– Knowledge of ECDIS systems and navigation software development
– Experience with NMEA 2000, IEC 61162 and AIS protocols
– Understanding of IMO navigation equipment performance standards
– Strong software development skills in Python, C++ or Java

NICE TO HAVE

– Experience with RADAR or AIS integration systems
– Knowledge of S-57 and S-52 electronic chart standards
– Familiarity with vessel bridge systems and equipment
